DeviceData Smart Display

Quick Setup
& User Guide

Connect compatible Bluetooth equipment and bring battery, solar and charging information together on one dedicated display.

Wi-Fi is not required for normal local display operation after setup. It is used during initial setup and for online monitoring, history, reports and alerts.

1

Power on DeviceData

Connect the display using USB-C power. For permanent installations, the optional DeviceData Direct Power Lead can use a suitable 8–30V DC supply.

The display starts automatically and creates a temporary Wi-Fi setup network on first startup.

2

Connect DeviceData to Wi-Fi

  1. Open Wi-Fi settings on your phone, tablet or laptop.
  2. Find and connect to the DeviceData setup network.
  3. The setup page should open automatically.
  4. Select the network DeviceData should normally use and enter its password.

If the page does not appear, open a browser while still connected to the DeviceData setup network.

Tip: On a boat, campervan or mobile installation, use your onboard router, MiFi or phone hotspot.

DeviceData stores one Wi-Fi network at a time and reconnects to it automatically.

3

Register your display

After connecting to Wi-Fi, DeviceData displays a QR code. Scan it with your phone, sign in or create an account, then follow the on-screen instructions to add the display to your system.

4

Find your Victron encryption keys

DeviceData needs the Instant Readout encryption key for each compatible Victron Smart device.

  1. Open VictronConnect and connect to the device.
  2. Open Settings.
  3. Tap the three dots in the top-right.
  4. Select Product info.
  5. Enable Instant readout via Bluetooth.
  6. Open Instant readout details and tap SHOW.
  7. Keep the MAC address and encryption key available.

Important: Use the Instant Readout encryption key—not the normal Victron Bluetooth PIN.

5

Add your Victron devices

Open your DeviceData system in a browser. Select a compatible device discovered nearby and enter its Instant Readout encryption key. Repeat for every device. It is crucial to select the correct type of device, or it will not work!

  • SmartShunt battery monitors
  • SmartSolar MPPT solar controllers
  • Orion XS DC-DC chargers
  • Other supported Victron Smart products
6

Wait for the device to sync—you’re ready

Keys normally sync within two to five minutes. Swipe the touchscreen between available screens, or let DeviceData rotate between them automatically.

  • Battery state of charge
  • Battery voltage
  • Charge/discharge current
  • Starter battery voltage
  • Solar power and yield
  • Charger status
  • DC-DC charger information

Using the Touchscreen

The main page

The main page brings together the latest information from your connected equipment. The fixed areas remain in place while the centre data panel can show battery, solar, charging and other available readings.

  • Swipe only the centre panel left or right to move between the available data pages.
  • Press and hold the centre panel to lock the current page and stop automatic rotation. Press and hold it again to unlock it.
  • Triple-tap the centre panel to hide it. Visit the Settings page to bring a page back.

Tip: Start each centre-panel gesture inside the panel. Swipe outside it to move between full pages.

Settings pages

Swipe the main screen to reach the Settings page. The exact labels may vary slightly with the installed firmware version.

  • Brightness: adjust the screen brightness: 100, 75, 50, 25 or 10%.
  • Screen Timeout: choose between Off, Always On, 30 seconds, 1 minute or 5 minutes.
  • Night Off: set the times when the display turns on and off; make sure it shows "ON".
  • Reset Setup: press and hold to delete saved Wi-Fi settings and stored encryption keys.
  • Setup QR: press to see the webpage QR code and MAC address.
  • Hidden Pages: re-enable centre pages that you previously hid.
  • Diagnostics: view the display identifier, Wi-Fi signal, IP address and diagnostic information that may be requested when contacting support, and access restart options.

Settings are saved by the display and remain in place after it is restarted.

Using DeviceData without Wi-Fi

After setup, DeviceData does not need Wi-Fi to display local Bluetooth data. Local operation continues without internet. Remote monitoring, online history, Daily Energy Reports and alerts resume when connectivity returns.

DeviceData Online

With Wi-Fi, the display also acts as your DeviceData gateway—no separate hub is required.

  • Live remote readings
  • Historical graphs
  • Daily Energy Reports
  • Battery monitoring
  • Low-battery notifications
  • Connection diagnostics

The first year of online service is included. The display continues operating locally without a subscription. (£12 per year)

Changing Wi-Fi

Open DeviceData settings and choose Wi-Fi setup/reset. Connect to the temporary setup network and enter the new details. Registered devices and your account remain unchanged.

Troubleshooting

DeviceData can’t see my Victron device

  • Check Bluetooth is enabled.
  • Enable Instant readout via Bluetooth.
  • Ensure the device is within Bluetooth range.
  • Confirm it is supported.

The device appears but there is no data

Check Settings → Product info → Instant readout details → SHOW. Enter the Instant Readout key, not the Bluetooth PIN.

Wi-Fi isn’t available

Local data continues after setup. Online services resume when Wi-Fi returns.

I changed my Wi-Fi password

Run Wi-Fi setup again and enter the new details.

Important information

DeviceData is a monitoring and information product. Do not rely on it as the sole protection for batteries, electrical systems, vessels, vehicles or property.

Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, internet, third-party equipment and online services can be unavailable. Install appropriate battery protection, fusing, alarms and safety systems independently.
